In recent years rapid prototyping develops at a quick pace and are actively introduced into many spheres of modern life. Thanks to their features they possess high potential for their introduction in teaching and learning activities at educational institutions of all levels. In the future these techniques could not only become a subject matter, but also help to find new forms of education and research methods, to increase motivation, to develop new competences of pupils and teachers.

The use of rapid prototyping in educational process of higher education institutions will solve a wide range of educational and research tasks. Thus the teaching staff will develop application methods of this techniques in terms of the objectives for what basic competences in receiving and creation of virtual models and the use of the appropriate equipment are necessary.
